Short activities are normally Online for 1 or 2 hours, longer activities are typically held over one or more days, these retreats offer a mix of training sessions, writing blocks, and knowledge-sharing activities to promote academic progress, confidence, and peer support.
Retreats often include:
-
Research skills workshops (e.g., methodology, data analysis, publishing)
-
Shut-up-and-write sessions for uninterrupted academic writing
-
Peer feedback groups to share ideas and overcome challenges
-
Mentor or supervisor drop-ins for targeted advice
-
Wellbeing and time-management support
The purpose is to give students space away from daily distractions to concentrate, reflect, and connect with academic faculty and other researchers—boosting productivity, motivation, and scholarly community.
